We stayed overnight whilst visiting relatives in the area. After being made most welcome by our charming hostess, we really enjoyed our brief stay. Lovely countryside feel and enjoyed looking at the wildlife over a leisurely breakfast. Hope to pay a return visit before long.

Thank you Jean for your warm welcome and spotless cosy room with so many thoughtful touches. The array of alternatives for breakfast was amazing, it's a pity I don't have a big appetite. However, I did my best at The Dolphin on your recommendation in the evening which was also warm and welcoming and very dog friendly.I'm sure we will return some time.Best wishes, Anni

We have just returned from a lovely stay ( one of many) at Otters Green. We have a dog and welcoming dog friendly accomodation is not easy to find. Jean is always warm and welcoming whatever time we arrive. The rooms are very comfortable, newly re-furbished, with lots of personal touches. We enjoy the flexibilty of the grange breakfast which caters for all requirements. And Otters Green is a lovely location - quiet, extremely convenient & in a beautiful area. We have stayed in many locations & Otters Green is easily one of our favourites. even though our arrival is often late after our ferry
Dear Linda,What a lovely review, thank you both so much.It was such a pleasure you welcome you and dear \"Charlie\" back once again and I am so glad that you liked the new room additions.I am looking forward to welcoming you all back sometime early next year, in the mean time I send to you my best wishes for the upcoming Christmas and New Year.Take care.Kind regards, Jean.

We spent two nights atOtters Green, the room had every thing we needed. My husband would have liked a cooked breakfastbut it was fine for me
Dear Linda, Thank you so much for taking the time to review and I am pleased that you had all that you needed in your room.Re a cooked breakfast, sadly, for many reasons including many guests having varying time schedules and a preference for flexibility re meals, we cannot do this effectively and so have chosen over the years to provide a very comprehensive and as varied a choice as is possible in our continental breakfast, plus a very flexible four hour time allowance (06.00 am - 10.00am daily) to allow everyone to partake as they wish.I do hope that you will return to stay with us again and look forward to welcoming you both back.I also hope that your journey home was not too tiring and wish you luck with your upcoming move.Kind regardsJean.,

Lovely host -
But shame about the accommodation and breakfast. Room was small but had a very large wardrobe and nowhere to put toiletries. The room had a musty smell not helped with a car air freshener. The continental breakfast was missing croissants and the crumpets were mouldy. Nice quiet location though so slept well.
Dear Mr & Mrs Hadley,Thank you for your two sets of comments .I am glad to know that you enjoyed a good nights sleep and thank you re the kind words about my hosting.I must admit to being surprised as no attempt was made to speak to me about any concerns/queries at all even though I always let my guest know that should they need me for anything at all I am always available,as there was no attempt to communicate with me, I naturally assumed that all was okay, as it was with the other guests staying on site at the time.I would like to add that I did speak briefly to everyone (all guests staying) during breakfast and all stated that they had slept well and no one voiced any concerns about anything at all. Also, when you returned the keys to me Mr Hadley I asked you about breakfast to which you replied that it was “not your cup of tea and you preferred a cooked breakfast” that was all. Before I begin with my explanations and factual answers to your various comments I would like to apologise for my two oversights, the first being having overlooked a mouldy crumpet which escaped my notice when putting a freshly opened pack into the bread selection basket in the early am for the breakfastselection. The second, the presence of an old car air freshener which I was unaware of was hanging on the far end of the top rail in the wardrobe in your room.I did discover via my housekeeeper that it had been on the back of the top rail in the wardrobe since she started Dec 2018 and she assumed that a long staying guest had placed it there and left it alone as he was still in residence Monday -Thursday until mid August and then had simply forgotten it as it had little or no smell.I might add that no other guest(s) has ever mentioned it(I did check my records for the last year) but my sincereapologies once again for the oversight.I also inspect each room after housekkeping is done to ensure that everything is ready for my guest(s) and any faults whatsoever are corrected at that time. There were non noted at all including musty odours or indeed any odours other that of a well cleaned, refreshedroom, other than the rather damp Autumnalscent coming in via the windows following the recent heavy rains which I am afraid I have no control over.Moving on, I was really upset re the crumpets as I would not subject anyone to such a thing at any time and so I did check the bin and discovered one crumpet with a small mould mark in the centre, three other crumpets were still in the bread basket and they were all fine, I presume the other four were also fine and eaten as there was no sign of them and the fresh pack had contained eight. You also mentioned the fact that there were no croissants – that is correct as I change my selections daily between croissants, crumpets, brioche, turnovers, muffins, seasonal buns & pies to offer guests a variety, especially those guests who stay lomnger than one night. The continental breakfast I offer is quite a large and varied one including choices for special dietary needs. The full list can be found on my website.Re the size of the granary, most guests find it cosy and are happy as usually guests are not all breakfasting at the same time as they are staying for different reasons and arise at differenttimes, hence the four hour time flexible open time – 06.00 am – 10.00 am daily available to them to partake of a meal.I am sorry that it was not to your liking.Re your en-suite room itself, I do not believe that it is small, having the advantage of the bay window and seating area which seems to please most of the guests especially those who’s stay is longer than one night and for the same reason they appreciate the roomy wardrobe and extra drawer space available to themMost people use the bathroom window shelf for their extra toiletries but after your comment have ordered an extra shelf in each bathroom for that use and I thank you for bringing up that point. The size and dimensionsof all our rooms are available upon request on all sites connected with us if size requirements are an issue for any guest(s) when making a booking. In addition interior and exterior shots of the rooms, gardens, parking spots and entrance, etc are also provided along with a list of the many ammenities we offer guests in their rooms.I am truly saddened that you did not come and speak to me as I would have done anything that I could to made your stay completely enjoyable for you.I would offer you a coplimentary night stay in either our double or twin en-suite but as you have statedthat you would never return, feel that offeringwouldsadly serve no purpose and so can only offer the above facts to you and wish you well.Kind regards. Jean.

Nice stay -
Friendly reception. Small cozy room. In the form of self-service a well cared for continental breakfast in a separate room. A somewhat simple and small toilet and shower room. The sink is too small and you can't put your toiletries there. Through a closed door to the adjacent room is it a bit noisy.Nice stay for a few days.
Dear Klaas,Thank you so much for taking the time to give a usyour review.I am glad that overall you and your wife enjoyed your stay and what we have to offer.I will look into putting another shelf ( in addition to the window shelf) for toiletries in the en-suite and apologise re any noise you heard from the next you.It has not been a problem mentioned to me before but I will check to see if anysound proofing if necessary.I do hope that you will visit us again in the not too distant future, you will always be assured of a warm welcome.Kind regards, Jean.

Pleasant, quiet dog-friendly spot -
We stayed for two nights in March and were made very welcome. Botley village is still quite unspoilt compared with much of southern Hapmshire. There are two good pubs serving food in the evening, and a foodstore. Otters Green is within walking distance of all amenities (take care when crossing the road outside though). Beds were comfortable, breakfast was ample and the dog was made particularly welcome. Will definitely stay there again if in the area.

Overnight stay at Otters Green -
We had a comfortable stay at this quaint B and B. we had a warm welcome and the room though small had a patio/varandah area to sit out and have coffee on and the room was clean and well stocked tea and coffee making equipment, lots of water and some nice biscuits! The room faced a mini garden and Pine trees and was apart from the house and quite private. There were two other adjacent rooms but they were not occupied I think as my daughter and I saw no one else. Breakfastin a small mock Tudor outhouse, was self service with proposer coffee, toaster, microwave etc all provided. Several different teas etc. The owner offered to make us eggs on toast but did not do other cooked breakfasts. We opted for poached egg, which was done well. We were there as we were attending a wedding in Botley Hotel and spa which was a mile away. All in all it was a pleasant stay.

Nice little B &B and ideally situated about 200 metres from Botley village centre. Landlady Jean is very welcoming and is keen to make your stay as happy as possible.Breakfast is in a 'quaint' building in the garden area just outside the rooms. The Best! -
Otter's Green is a charming, peaceful oasis in a world of hurry and bustle.Greeted by Jean, my dog Loki and I were shown a pleasant, convenient room, facing onto a small garden, and provided with everything we could need. Jean is friendly and caring, with a clear interest in her guests (especially the dogs, but it runs over onto their humans as well). I thoroughly recommend Otter's green to anyone, but especially those who wish to travel with their pets. Thank you, Jean, for a perfect stay.
Sorry, my first response did not reach you, my thanks for your kind words. My regards to oth you and Loki.
